As his inquiry progresses, he comes across different characters with different philosophies, each with a logic and reasoning of his but in combination leading nowhere. One vital link, Shankarappa, an ex-serviceman who had helped Taiakka, remains mum. As the mystery grows deeper, Ratan becomes obsessed with finding the truth. When he finds that a chairman of a so-called social welfare organization who wanted to exploit the credit for Taiakka's exemplary work had sabotaged the ashram, he becomes frustrated with the commercialization of the system.

It is then that he meets Taiakka, who still holds an optimistic outlook, telling him that one should always live in the present and work for the goals that are currently relevant.
