The film portrays the inner conflicts of a socially committed student of social work, who begins to investigate a deserted village ashram and school, which had been started for the children of sex workers by a socially committed lady, Taiakka . |

As his inquiry progresses, he comes across different characters with different philosophies, each with a logic and reasoning of his but in combination leading nowhere. One vital link, Shankarappa, an ex-serviceman who had helped Taiakka, remains mum. As the mystery grows deeper, Ratan becomes obsessed with finding the truth. When he finds that a chairman of a so-called social welfare organization who wanted to exploit the credit for Taiakka's exemplary work had sabotaged the ashram, he becomes frustrated with the commercialization of the system. |

It is then that he meets Taiakka, who still holds an optimistic outlook, telling him that one should always live in the present and work for the goals that are currently relevant. |
