Synopsis: |
| |
"Sapatnekarache Mool" deals with the complexities faced by a generation of educated and urban Indians. On one hand they face the onslaught of technology that is only a few hours behind the western world and on the other hand they are trying to adjust to a moral and religious system that is firmly entrenched in a history dating back to thousands of years. In such a dichotomy, an absurd dilemma is created where it becomes increasingly difficulty to separate what is `real' from what is not what to believe in and what not do. |

The film is a document of our times and it's inherent contradictions. On the surface, it deals with the problems of infertility and age-old stigmas attached to it. Artificial insemination is presented as a modern, medical solution to this problem. However as the film proceeds layers of more complex thoughts are peeled one after another and gradually the main characters find themselves unable to bear consequences of their peculiar predicament. This finally results in a solution that is devastating for them all. |
